First responders play a critical role to keep their communities safe! Fire departments, EMS agencies, and police are often the first to arrive on scene in an emergency. Ensuring they have the tools to quickly identify and assist vulnerable individuals, especially children, can make all the difference. This is why we want every car and booster seat to be equipped with a ROTH ID TAG.

Through our Community Partnership Program, first responder agencies across the country are working to distribute ROTH ID TAGs to families in their area. While our tags are affordable, especially for our partners to purchase in bulk, many departments are getting creative to fund their distribution.

To help your department make ROTH ID TAGs available to your community, below are three ways we have seen other departments generate funds to purchase tags for their communities.

1. Apply For Grants

Many first responder agencies fund safety programs through local, state, or federal grants. Grants focused on community risk reduction, public safety education, or emergency preparedness often cover initiatives like ROTH ID TAGs. When applying for a grant, be sure to check specific details of the grants your department would be applying for.

ROTH ID TAG works closely with our partners to help identify funding opportunities. Our team is available to provide materials and training information to demonstrate how ROTH ID TAGs enhance community safety efforts. With a well-prepared grant proposal, many agencies have successfully received funding to provide tags to local families.

2. Host Community Events

Public safety events are a natural fit for promoting ROTH ID TAGs, but they can be even greater opportunity for funding tag purchases. Fire station open houses, safety fairs, National Night Out events, CPR classes, or other community gatherings create the perfect opportunity to engage families, raise awareness, and promote funding for tags.

We have partnered with the Julie Roth Memorial Foundation to attend several pancake breakfasts to promote ROTH ID TAG. These departments used the funds generated at their event to purchase tags to pass out to local families who were not able to attend the pancake breakfast.

Community events are a great way to generate funding, but they also build trust and a connection between first responders and the families they serve.

3. Partnering with Local Businesses

Sponsorships from local businesses are another powerful way to fund ROTH ID TAGs for your community. When a business sponsors an order of tags, it shows their commitment to supporting community safety and the first responders who care for the community. Partnerships create the ultimate win/win situations.

As an added value, businesses have the opportunity to feature their logo and messaging on a custom-designed envelope that accompanies the tags. This offers visibility in a meaningful way – families remember and support companies that invest in their safety.

We have seen support from local insurance agencies, family-owned restaurants, pediatric offices, and other small, locally owned businesses ready to support their communities. These partnerships help fund important safety tools and foster a relationship between local businesses and public safety agencies.

The ROTH ID TAG was created after tragedy struck our own family.

On December 23, 2022, Julie Roth, beloved wife and mother, was traveling with her two small children when they were caught up in a 47+ vehicle pile-up on the Ohio Turnpike. Julie and Edna Rose, the baby she was carrying, did not survive, but her two other children did.

Injured and afraid, Julie’s two toddlers waited many hours to see a familiar face while emergency responders worked to identify them and contact their father, who was at work. Thankfully, Ayla and Rory Roth are alive and well today. They are the true reason for the ROTH ID TAG™ creation.
