Child safety is not a one-time effort; it is an ongoing responsibility, and we are proud to stand behind that commitment.
ROTH ID TAG takes child safety as the core of everything we do. That commitment extends beyond providing emergency identification solutions; it includes ensuring children are properly protected every time they ride in a vehicle. That is why 90% of our team are proud to be Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) through the national certification program administered by Safe Kids Worldwide.
Becoming a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician is not simply a credential; it represents comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and a dedication to ongoing education in child passenger safety. CPSTs are trained professionals who educate parents and caregivers on the correct selection, installation, and use of car seats and booster seats. They also teach families how to confidently and correctly secure their children in vehicles based on age, height, weight, and developmental needs.
The National Child Passenger Safety Certification Program, managed by Safe Kids Worldwide, sets rigorous standards for technicians. To become certified, candidates must be at least 18 years old and complete a multi-day certification course. This course combines classroom instruction with hands-on training, including practical skills assessments and participation in a live car seat check event. Candidates must demonstrate both technical competence and the ability to effectively communicate safety information to caregivers.

Certification does not end once the course is complete. CPSTs are required to recertify every two years. Maintaining certification includes completing continuing education units, participating in a required number of seat checks, and staying current with evolving best practices, vehicle technology, and car seat advancements. This ensures technicians provide families with the most accurate and up-to-date guidance available.
For parents seeking assistance, finding a local CPST is straightforward. The program’s website allows caregivers to search for certified technicians by zip code, language spoken, or specialized training, such as experience with children who have special healthcare needs. This nationwide network makes it easier than ever to access qualified, trusted support.
In addition to technician resources, Safe Kids Worldwide provides extensive educational tools for families. Their resources include guidance on selecting the appropriate car seat, understanding proper harness positioning, transitioning between seat stages, and ensuring correct installation. Parents can access detailed car seat checklists, instructional videos, and age-based recommendations to help make informed decisions.
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury for children, and proper car seat use significantly reduces risk. However, studies consistently show that many car seats are used incorrectly. That is why professional education matters.
At ROTH ID TAG, our certification reflects our broader mission: protecting children through preparedness, education, and advocacy. By maintaining our CPST credentials, we ensure that the guidance we provide families is grounded in nationally recognized standards and best practices.
The ROTH ID TAG was created after tragedy struck our own family.
On December 23, 2022, Julie Roth, beloved wife and mother, was traveling with her two small children when they were caught up in a 47+ vehicle pile-up on the Ohio Turnpike. Julie and Edna Rose, the baby she was carrying, did not survive, but her two other children did.
Injured and afraid, Julie’s two toddlers waited many hours to see a familiar face while emergency responders worked to identify them and contact their father, who was at work. Thankfully, Ayla and Rory Roth are alive and well today. They are the true reason for the ROTH ID TAG creation.
