On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Wauseon Fire Department hosted a collaborative event focused on child passenger safety, featuring the installation of ROTH ID TAGs™ and car seat inspections. Partnering with the Fulton County Health Department and Wauseon Schools’ Pre-K program, the initiative aimed to enhance the safety of preschool families in the Pettisville and Wauseon school districts.
The event was made possible through a generous $6,000 donation from the Wauseon American Legion Post 265, ensuring that families could participate at no cost. This contribution underscores the community’s commitment to safeguarding its youngest members.
A dedicated team of 21 volunteers convened at the Wauseon Fire Department, working diligently to inspect and install car seats equipped with ROTH ID TAGs. These tags are designed to provide emergency contact information, aiding first responders in identifying and assisting children during emergencies.
Throughout the day, 14 ROTH ID TAGs were successfully installed. Additionally, one car seat was found to have a manufacturer recall and was promptly replaced, ensuring the continued safety of the child.
A huge thank you to all who made this event possible and successful! This event highlights the power of community collaboration in promoting child safety. By combining resources and expertise, local organizations have taken a proactive step toward protecting children in emergency situations.

The ROTH ID TAG was created after tragedy struck our own family.
On December 23, 2022, Julie Roth, beloved wife and mother, was traveling with her two small children when they were caught up in a 47+ vehicle pile-up on the Ohio Turnpike. Julie and Edna Rose, the baby she was carrying, did not survive, but her two other children did.
Injured and afraid, Julie’s two toddlers waited many hours to see a familiar face while emergency responders worked to identify them and contact their father, who was at work. Thankfully, Ayla and Rory Roth are alive and well today. They are the true reason for the ROTH ID TAG™ creation.
